Motorola has launched the Moto E second generation smartphone in India for an affordable price of Rs 6,999 at an event held in Delhi. The device will go on sale tomorrow at midnight exclusively on Flipkart. The company has not revealed when it will launch the 4G variant of the phone, but it says ‘soon’. There’s no word on the pricing of the 4G version.
Announced last month, the Moto E 2015 sports a 4.5-inch display compared to the 4.3-inch display in the previous model and will have a 540 x 960 pixels resolution. The 3G version of the Moto E is powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 32-bit processor and a 400MHz Adreno 302 GPU. It also includes 1GB of RAM. The LTE version has a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and a 400MHz Adreno 306 GPU.
It comes with an internal storage of 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot. In terms of camera, the device has a 5MP rear snapper along with an auto focus sensor and includes features like geo-tagging, panorama, and HDR. It also comes with a front-facing VGA camera.
While Motorola is still conducting an Android Lollipop soak test for the Moto E 2014 model, its successor now runs Android Lollipop. This means, you can expect the latest OS goodies from Google on the budget handset. Motorola has also added features like Moto Display for notifications and updates.
In terms of connectivity, the device has WiFi, GPS, Radio and Bluetooth. The water resistant Moto E is fueled by a 2390mAh battery compared to the 1980mAh seen in the previous model.
