Microsoft has launched India’s cheapest 4G smartphone which is the Lumia 638 at a price tag of Rs 8,299. The smartphone will be available exclusively on the company’s brand store on Amazon.in
The smartphone has a 4.5 ClearBack LCD display with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution which comes to around 218ppi. It has Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The processor is a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
quad-core processor with 1GB RAM. In terms of memory space, it has a built-in storage of 8GB that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
The Lumia 638 runs on Windows 8.1 and comes with the latest Lumia Denim update. The new phone sports a 5MP auto-focus rear camera but lacks a front facing camera. The phone has softkey buttons for back, home and search which were been introduced in the new Windows Phone 8.1.
The phone is powered with 1830 mAh battery and supports 4G TD-LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS. The phone also includes ‘SensorCore’ which allows low-power motion sensing for fitness apps.
Microsoft Lumia 638 consumers using an Airtel post-paid service in Bengaluru will receive up to 5GB of free data on 4G for 2 months after activating their SIM. The offer will be available until 31 March 2015.
