The world’s most popular text messaging app has started questioning the incoming payment feature. It is believed that WhatsApp can launch its payment feature this week in India. The beta version of the new feature is already active, but in the meantime questions have started arising regarding the WhatsApp Effect Payment feature. Subsequently, the IT Ministry has ordered National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to investigate the matter.
The IT Ministry has asked the NPCI to investigate whether the white-space has complied with the rules of the Reserve Bank of India. The government has also asked to make sure that if WhatsApp has taken any concrete steps regarding the data security of the users?

According to reports, the IT Ministry has sought information from various NPCI for many things. like:

- Where will WhatsApp Users Data?
- Did WhatsApp do not share data with Facebook before launching its payment feature?
What does the RBI say?
On April 5, 2018, the RBI had said that all the payment specialists will have to ensure that every data related to payment is stored in India. Operators were given 6 months time for this.
Continues beta testing
Beta test of Whitespace Payment feature starts in January. Beta testing is available for up to 10 million users.
WhatsApp payment feature may be launched next week
WhatsApp payment feature may be launched in India next week. The company has partnered with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank. After completing some formalities, the company will also partner with State Bank of India.

Will compete with them
Whatsapp payment feature will be available for more than 200 million users in India, which will be 20 percent more than Paytm. The preparations for Whtsapp are being linked to WeChat. WeChat has given a new dimension to its services in China.
