- Apple has unveiled the iPhone XR as its most-affordable 2018 iPhone model
- The new iPhone model features a 6.1-inch ‘Liquid Retina’ display
- It starts at Rs. 76,900 and will go on pre-orders beginning October 19
At the iPhone event in Cupertino, Apple has launched the third iPhone and has unfortunately named it the iPhone XR. The iPhone XR looks almost exactly as what we’ve expected with thicker bezels, a notch on top and a single rear camera.
The phone comes with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display, and will be available in multiple colors, including white, black, blue, yellow, and more. The phone comes with the latest A12 Bionic chipset.
Apple iPhone XR Price
The Apple iPhone XR price in India starts at Rs. 76,900 for the 64GB storage variant. In the US, the 64GB variant has been priced at $749 (roughly Rs. 53,900), the 128GB variant has been priced at $799 (roughly Rs. 57,500), and the 256GB variant has been priced at $899 (roughly Rs. 64,700). The iPhone XR will be available for pre-orders starting October 19, while its shipments will begin from October 26 in over 50 countries and territories, including India.
The 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display is the most color accurate in the industry, according to Apple and features precision-milled glass, advanced pixel masking and sub-pixel antialiasing along with a new backlight design that enables the display to stretch into the corners, unlike traditional LCDs which have backlight on the edges and hence need bezels.
In terms of optics, the new iPhone XR comes with a single 12MP rear camera which is basically the same camera unit as the main rear camera on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. There’s also the same 7MP front facing camera.
The phone comes with dual SIM capabilities, wireless charging, and more. iPhone XR uses LTE Advanced and introduces Dual SIM through the use of a nano-SIM and digital eSIM.
In terms of photography, the iPhone XR features a single camera but Apple claims the A12 Bionic chip has a number of image processing improvements that make this phone worthy of its rivals. A new Depth Control feature lets you adjust the depth of field or background blur intensity in portrait mode photos with a real-time preview. The Portrait mode on the XR also features the front-facing TrueDepth camera and Portrait Lighting for dramatic studio lighting effects.
