At this year’s first Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy S22 series, which we had been anticipating. The Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra are slated to replace last year’s Galaxy S21 smartphones in the 2022 flagship lineup. Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Flagship Lineup Officially Launched
Galaxy S22 Ultra Specifications and Features
Let’s start with the greatest: the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The smartphone is a hybrid of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, including features from both. While the focus is on the cameras and performance, the smartphone includes the Galaxy Note’s S Pen, which now has a dedicated slot. To recall, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the first Galaxy S phone to have a stylus, lacked one. When compared to last year’s S21 Ultra, the S Pen has around 70% reduced latency.

This is reflected in the design as well. The phone has a boxy shape similar to the Note, but it has a back camera hump similar to the Galaxy S21 phones. It has a metal frame, glass and haze finish, and comes in four appealing colours: Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Burgundy.
The S22 Ultra features a large 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,750 nits. It will be available in both Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset models in various areas. It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage and will be available in a couple of years.
Like the previous Ultra versions, the camera section has some outstanding features. A 108MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree FOV, and two 10MP telephoto lenses with up to 10x optical zoom make up the quad rear cameras. The front camera, like its predecessor, is rated at 40 megapixels. There are also many appealing camera features, such as an enhanced night mode, an advanced Super Clear Glass lens for flare-free images, 100x zoom, access to the Expert Raw software for in-camera editing capabilities, and much more.
The smartphone, with its vast screen space, includes a large 5,000mAh battery, which was also seen on the S21 Ultra. However, it now supports 45W rapid charging. It runs Samsung One UI 4.1 on Android 12.
Wi-Fi 6E, 5G support, IP68 water and dust resistance, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and other features are included in the latest Galaxy S model.
Galaxy S22+ Specifications and Features
The Galaxy S22+ is the series’ middle child, and it has a few modifications. To begin, it resembles the Galaxy S21+ and has a Contour-Cut design. It has a 6.6-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display that is somewhat smaller. It features a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1,750 nits. Its SoC variations stay the same. It has up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space.
There are some adjustments to the camera as well. The S22+ features a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens on the back, as well as a 10MP front camera. The S22+ provides Portrait mode images with the new AI Stereo Depth Map for enhanced details while having camera functions comparable to the Ultra model.
It has a smaller 4,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities. It also runs One UI 4.1, which is based on Android 12, has 5G compatibility, an Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, and an IP68 rating, among other things. Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold are the four colour options available.
Samsung Galaxy S22: Specifications and Features
The Galaxy S22 is the newest addition to the collection, and it receives the most updates. The phone has a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a Full HD+ resolution, which is the smallest among the versions. A 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits are all included in the phone. Unlike the S22+ and S22 Ultra, it has a smaller 3,700mAh battery that enables 25W rapid charging. It has up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space.
The camera department is comparable to that of the Galaxy S22+ version, with three cameras on the rear. The style and colour options are likewise comparable to those seen on the Galaxy S22+.
The Galaxy S22 series is constructed of a unique material that employs repurposed fishing nets to combat ocean pollution and contribute to a more sustainable environment. All of the phones have, as previously speculated, four years of Android OS upgrades, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and Knox Vault support for additional protection.
Availability and Price
The Galaxy S22 is priced at $799, $999 for the Galaxy S22+, and $1,199 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Galaxy S22 series is currently available for pre-order and will be available in the United States on February 25. There’s no news yet on whether it’ll be available in India, but you can expect to learn more shortly.
