Upcoming RTX 4090 Graphics Card from Nvidia might be twice as fast as the RTX 3090

Nvidia RTX 4090: Ada Lovelace may have killed Amperes, according to a 3D Mark Time Spy Extreme score that was released.

The much-anticipated next-generation flagship graphics card from Nvidia isn’t out yet, but rumors about it are heating up. According to one report, the Nvidia RTX 4090 might provide nearly twice the performance of the RTX 3090, which was regarded as a monster GPU less than two years ago.

According to the rumors, Nvidia’s RTX 4090 may be the only graphics card that will hit shop shelves in time for the holiday season. This has led to conjecture that the rest of the Ada Lovelace lineup may require additional baking time, although this remains to be seen.

Since even the most expensive Arc A770 card is only intended to compete with mid-range cards like the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and the Radeon RX 6650 XT, Intel’s Arc GPUs are already known to be unlikely to stand a chance against next-generation graphics cards from Team Green and Team Red.

However, a leaked test result indicates Nvidia is shooting for the stars with the RTX 4000 series, which might put AMD in a tough race for RDNA 3. The RTX 4090 can score over 19,000 points in the 3D Mark Time Spy Extreme graphics test, claims trusted hardware leaker Kopite7kimi.

This would be an astounding result because it is far higher than the current world record for a single GPU. As of this writing, the top rank is held by an EVGA RTX 3090 Ti with a significant overclock (and unusual cooling) that scored 14,600 points in the Time Spy Extreme graphics benchmark. The average score across all samples is little more than 11,400 points, implying that the Nvidia RTX 4090 might be up to 66 percent quicker in simulated testing.

While the RTX 3090 may reach a maximum score of 11,400, its overall average score, which is only a few points shy of 9,500, is substantially lower. If the RTX 4090’s benchmark numbers that were leaked are accurate, performance would have improved by over 100%. However, it may give some credence to prior speculations that Nvidia and AMD may be close to creating the first 100-teraflop consumer GPUs. It says nothing regarding ray tracing performance.

As always, you should take this with a grain of salt. However, the RTX 4090 is anticipated to feature 16,384 CUDA cores, which is a 56% and a 52% increase over the RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti, respectively, respectively. It will be fascinating to find out how that improvement was made if the RTX 4090’s rasterization performance is as good as this leak appears to suggest. We’ll have to wait and see, but most speculations to date point to faster clocks and much greater TDP.
