Apple announced an update for iPhones that will allow them to use 5G starting in December. In select cities, Jio and Airtel are currently running trials of the service. Still, iPhone users need to update their phones to use it.
iPhone users in India will soon be able to use 5G phone networks.
Apple has confirmed that the upcoming iOS release, 16.2 Beta, will add support for 5G in India next week. The company is also meeting with members of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology MeitY) to formally update them on their rollout plan.
Apple plans to release iOS for the 5G-enabled iPhones, which is due later this year. If you’ve signed up for Apple’s beta program, you’ll be able to test 5G on your phone and give feedback to Apple before it releases the stable version.
Users with the Jio or Airtel broadband network can test 5G before it is rolled out. There has yet to be word on a release date for the updated network. For those who don’t know, True Jio 5G has already been made available in Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, and Kolkata in an invite-only setting. Airtel 5G Plus, on the other hand, is being rolled out in a phased manner across Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, and Nagpur.
The iPhone 12 series, the iPhone 13 series, and the iPhone SE 3 will receive an update. You can head here if you’d like to sign up for the iOS 16 beta program. However, keep in mind that beta updates are less stable and offer more bugs than stable updates.
Samsung is anticipated to release the 5G update in December. Motorola will also release a 5G phone starting this month. The government wants to ensure. Android phones support 5G as soon as possible. Most Android phones supported 5G once it became life in India last month.
