Qualcomm introduced the new Snapdragon S3 and S5 Gen 2 Sound Platforms at its 2022 Snapdragon Summit, announcing their new Extreme Power Saving Mode. The sound platforms are meant to work with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and bring along features like spatial audio support.
Snapdragon S3 and S5 Gen 2 Sound Platforms Launched
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S3 Gen 2 and S5 Gen 2 audio chips come with Snapdragon Sound technology that enhances sound. This chip has features like lossless audio via Bluetooth and connectivity, better latency, and much more.
Not every platform is created equal. You might be looking for a VR headset that includes spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and lossless music streaming, or you might be interested in investing in Bluetooth LE Audio solutions. Our platforms support 48ms latency for smoother gaming.
James Chapman, Vice President and General Manager for Voice, Music & Wearables at Qualcomm Technologies International, said their new S5 and S3 platforms had been designed with consumers in mind. They’ve incorporated the latest features that people want most while providing ultra-low power performance. He remarked on how they pioneered Lossless audio over Bluetooth but continued to innovate after introducing it.
Now, faster than ever before, you can use our new Sound Platforms with superior Qualcomm Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation. They help balance and adapt without compromising the earbud’s fit or sound quality and feature features like Adaptive Transparency mode, which automatically detects speech and allows for a smooth switch from active noise cancellation to letting in sounds when necessary.
Qualcomm is launching two new sound platforms, the Snapdragon S3 Gen 2 and the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S5 Gen 2. These quality sound-producing tools will be commercially available in models of phones in the second half of 2023.
