A17 Bionic Chip to Focus on Batteries
The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are expected to feature the next-gen A17 Bionic chipset, based on 3nm process technology. These are said to focus more on battery life than performance.
As reported by Bloomberg, the A17 Bionic chipset from TSMC will consume about 35% less power while delivering better performance than 5nm chips. With a longer battery life, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will provide a welcome addition to any smartphone. Given that the non-Pro iPhone 15 is likely to use this year’s A16 Bionic chipset, which is a 4nm chip, this may not be the case.
TSMC recently began mass-producing its 3nm chipsets. This process technology will also be used in the upcoming M2 Pro and M2 Max chips and even the M3 chip for future Macs.
Apple might change its strategy to sell more iPhone 15 models, which did not quite work out this year, to ensure that the A17 chipset performs well. Regarding other iPhone 15 expectations, we will have to wait and see how the A17 chipset does. As a result, we can expect significant price reductions for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
