September isn’t really a great month for phone makers, but a delight for Apple fans as the company is known to pull the wraps off its new iPhone. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming iPhone 7 or rather iPhone 6SE or whatever the company plans to name it, is slated to launch at an event to be held on 7 September.

While we will see the new Phone being unveiled, the company plans a no-show for the refreshed MacBook Pros.
People familiar with the matter have told the news site that the MacBook Pro lineup is set to get its first major overhaul in over four years now in the bid to help slow down the sliding shares using an older product. The new refreshed notebooks will be slimmer and come with touchscreen strip for function keys. The report also adds the new Macbooks will come with ‘powerful and efficient graphics processors for video gamers’.

However, the report goes on to say that the MacBook Pros won’t be launched on the same day as the iPhone on 7 September, while many expected the release next month, there is no date set yet. While iPad was believed to be the next stop after MacBooks, it is the latter that has been selling strong. We’ve seen in the past how iPad sales fell while MacBooks still managed to stay in the game. It seems the right time to overhaul the MacBook lineup, especially considering iPad sales are falling flat with each passing quarter.

Apple is believed to be in the process to pull the plug on non-Retina Macbooks. KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is known for accurate Apple predictions has said that the company may also drop the Macbook Air. Kuo has also been saying that the new Macbook Pro will be thinner, and a secondary OLED touchscreen will replace the function keys. Furthermore, its top-of-the-line models are likely to come equipped with AMD’s Radeon Polaris graphics card, aimed at improved gaming. Most of these features are in line with the new Bloomberg report.

But the report also adds Apple’s plans to bring in Touch ID fingerprint technology. “Apple has tested versions of the upcoming laptops that integrate the scanner beside the new function key display, according to one of the people. The sensor would allow users to log in more quickly and theoretically authenticate Apple Pay purchases. Like with iPhones, the new Pro laptops will encrypt fingerprint data so it can’t be removed from the devices,” the report reads.

So, 7 September may be limited to the iPhone and the new Watch(es). The MacBook Pro lineup hasn’t seen an upgrade for the longest time, but looks like users will still have to wait for some more time.
