Windows Phone users should be happy to know that the entire range of Windows Phone 8 devices will get the next Windows 10 update when Microsoft releases it. The announcement follows a series of positive moves by Microsoft, including its announcement to make important features in Office apps free for Android and Apple.
When Windows 8 was launched, it had announced that Windows Phone 7 devices would not receive the update. Though few, the announcement miffed existing Windows Phone users as it meant that they could no longer get the latest features and apps in the new operating system. Luckily that won’t be the case with Windows Phone 8 users.
First reported by Windows Central, when asked by customer if the Lumia 930 will get the Windows 10 update, Microsoft tweeted, “We plan to upgrade all Windows Phone 8 devices to Windows 10 in the future.”
Windows 10, which was launched in September, will provide a unified experience across different kinds of devices including desktops, tablets and smartphones. It is expected to have one application store which will allow users download and update them from any device.
