Apple’s highly anticipated foldable iPhone is approaching release, but limited initial availability could overshadow the launch. Hopes for a straightforward release timeline have been dampened by ongoing rumors and confirmed delays. The main issue now is access; many eager buyers may struggle to get the iPhone Fold when it finally arrives.
iPhone Fold launch targets might not be met
DigiTimes Asia reports fresh details from inside the supply network pointing to a possible September 2026 debut for the iPhone Fold. Yet availability might start slow despite that timeline. Behind the scenes, mass production was supposed to kick off by July 2026 – now sources suggest it’s sliding into August. Because of this shift, hitting an early shipment target of 7-8 million devices looks unlikely. Even so, Apple appears to be moving forward without canceling key phases.
Rumors suggest the official output goal remains uncertain, but consensus points to significantly fewer units than initially planned. Early design issues are to blame for the scaled-back production, reinforcing that supply will likely be much tighter than demand at launch.
Price becomes critical here. Expect the iPhone Fold to cost around $3,000, or around ₹2,77,000. Tough luck might hit shoppers twice. Scarcity meets a number that stings just at a glance.
Apple wants the iPhone Fold to make a statement. Still, if limited supply and high price persist, it risks becoming a hard-to-find model that few actually own at launch, a launch defined more by shortage than by hype.
