Apple will release a second update for iOS 8, after the iOS 8.0.1 update reportedly worsened their devices including inability to connect to the cellular network or use the Touch ID.
Acknowledging the issue, Apple has already pulled the update that was rolled out yesterday. “We have received reports of an issue with the iOS 8.0.1 update. We are actively investigating … In the meantime, we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1 update,” said Trudy Miller, an Apple spokeswoman. In addition, the company has posted a workaround on its website to help users regain access to their cellular services and TouchID functionality. The instructions basically require users to reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes.
iOS 8.0.1 was supposed to fix problems in iOS 8 including call forwarding issues and freezing of the device when accessing visual voicemail and the keypad not appearing when trying to enter iCloud Keychain verification codes. In addition, the update intended to fix video playback issues on Safari and VPN profile installation issues. However, Apple had to rollback the update after users complained that it blocked their calls.
To add to Apple’s woes, a widely circulated video showed the larger of the two new models is vulnerable to bending. Other reports on the web also reveal that the aluminum construction bends as the larger iPhone 6 cannot withstand the pressure that arises from keeping it tucked in your pocket for hours. Some Apple users have complained about the design flaw that affects the top-end area near the volume buttons, while several others have taken the social network by storm with witty and funny remarks about the issue.
While we doubt there’s a fix for the bending problem, Apple said on its website that it is preparing iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the connectivity issues and will release it in the next few days.
