How To Fix iPhone 12 Battery Drain: There have been rumors of the latest iPhone models’ batteries draining quicker than normal, like the iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and 12 Mini. Although these iPhone models were just recently launched to the public, Apple customers have voiced fears that their batteries are now draining quicker, even though their iPhones are new. This can be aggravating, particularly for those who are constantly on the move and rely on their iPhone for day-to-day tasks, which is why it is critical to maintaining battery life.
If the battery life on your iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max continues to drain quicker than it should, there are a few things you should do before contacting Apple help.
While there haven’t been many concerns about battery life, some iPhone 12 users have reported that their batteries are drained quicker than they should be.
Battery life problems are normal (especially after Apple launches new iOS software), and we know that 5G drains batteries faster than LTE, so these concerns are understandable.
There are several steps you can take and try to fix the problem if you start to see significant battery loss. We’ll walk you through some repairs in this guide to help you repair a bad iPhone 12 battery life.
These are solutions that have worked for us over the years, and they could be able to help you overcome your battery problems quickly and save a call to Apple customer support.
How To Fix iPhone 12 Battery Draining:
Switch Off Your Phone
We still recommend restarting your phone before doing something else if your battery begins to drain quicker than you thought it can.
Wait a minute before turning on your iPhone 12, iPhone 12 micro, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max. If it’s always draining too fast, consider these other solutions.
Your iPhone should be updated.
Apple publishes iPhone app patches daily. Point enhancements (x.x.x) are normally patch fixes, while milestone enhancements (x.x) are generally a combination of features and repairs.
While Apple does not specifically include battery life updates in an iOS update’s changelog, the new firmware can assist with battery problems.

5G should be turned off
5G networking is available on the iPhone 12 model. Although it is easy, it can deplete your battery much more quickly than LTE. If you don’t need 5G or don’t want to use it all the time, go to the settings on your iPhone 12.
There are a few 5G settings in iOS 14 that you’ll want to memorize. To find these, go to Settings, Cellular, Cellular Service Choice, Voice & Data, and then Voice & Data.
You’ll find three choices if you’re in the right place:
- 5G ON
- 5G Auto
- LTE
When you turn 5G on, your iPhone can use 5G anytime it’s open, even though it depletes the battery.
The 5G Auto alternative only uses 5G when it won’t kill your phone’s battery too much. The default option, 5G Auto, is the one that most people can prefer.
Examine The Apps
Apps may have a detrimental effect on your phone’s battery life, so you’ll want to check if you’re feeling an unexpected drain.
On the iPhone 12 series, checking app output is a breeze. Here’s how to go about it:
- Go to the Settings app on your phone.
- Choose the battery option.
- Scroll to the Battery Use tool at the bottom of the list.
This battery use calculator tells you the applications are draining the battery on your iPhone 12 and when they are doing so.
If you use an app sometimes, it can consume more energy than if you never use it. So, if you see an app you occasionally use using a lot of resources, you can look into it more.
If you see an app consuming a lot of battery power, consider removing it from your smartphone to see what happens.
If you depend on the software regularly, we suggest installing the most recent version from the company. If that doesn’t work and you just need the software to get through the day, you will need to revert to an earlier edition of iOS 14.
All Settings Must Be Reset
If you’re certain it’s not a problem with one or more of your games, consider resetting the settings on your iPhone 12.
Before you try anything, bear in mind that it can cause your computer to forget established Wi-Fi networks, so make sure you’ve written down or saved your passwords somewhere secure.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Go to the General tab.
- Reset by scrolling and pressing the Reset button.
- If your passcode is enabled, tap Reset All Settings and enter it.
You’ll need to reconnect your iPhone to your Wi-Fi network(s) and Bluetooth devices until the operation is completed.
Low Power Mode can be used.
Low Power Mode in iOS 14 lets you save battery life by turning off utilities that can drain your battery (Hey Siri, automated updates, and mail fetch).
Low Power Mode can be switched on and off at any time, and the operating system can ask you to do so when your iPhone reaches 20% battery life.
Add Low Power Mode to the Control Center if you haven’t already. Control Center is the menu that appears as you swipe up from the bottom of the screen or the top-right if you have a newer iPhone edition. Here’s how you can do it:
- Go to Settings.
- Control Center should be tapped.
- Select Customize Controls from the drop-down menu.
- Next to Low Power Mode, tap the green plus sign.
A battery icon will appear the next time you open Control Center on your screen. Toggle Low Power Mode on or off your device by clicking it.
Low Power Mode can also be enabled from the Configuration menu. Here’s how you can do it:
- Go to Settings.
- The battery can be tapped.
- Select Low Power Mode from the menu.
- Turn it on by toggling the switch.
Stop Background RefreshÂ
Background App Refresh refreshes applications in the background so that they show the most up-to-date information when you open them. It’s a convenient feature, but it depletes battery life. Try shutting it off if you don’t need it. Here’s how you can do it:
- Go to the Configuration menu.
- Select General.
- Refresh the context app.
- Switch it off on those apps you aren’t using.
If you don’t want to go through your applications one by one, you should turn them off entirely.
Downgrade the app on your iPhone 12
If you can’t find a solution to your problem and don’t want to wait until Apple’s next iOS 14 upgrade, you can try downgrading the device on your iPhone 12. (if the option is available).
