Apple may be planning to introduce a new, top-of-the-line iPhone 16 that’s even more expensive than the current Pro models. The rumored device could be called the iPhone 16 Ultra and is expected to arrive in 2024. According to insider Mark Gurman, the company has discussed adding a high-end iPhone above both Pro models.
iPhone 16 Ultra: Apple’s Most Expensive Phone Ever
Gurman said, “Instead of calling the Pro Max the Ultra, Apple could add an even higher-end iPhone above both Pro models in time for the 2024 iPhone release.”
This new model could push the average sales price of iPhones even higher, but Tim Cook believes people won’t mind splurging. The current top-end iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,599 for the 1TB model, but if the rumored iPhone Ultra becomes a reality, it could cost even more than $1,999.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to come with differentiating features, such as improved cameras, a faster chip, and a potentially bigger display. However, it won’t be a foldable device, as Apple isn’t focusing on that technology shortly.
Before the iPhone 16 Ultra becomes a reality, Apple is set to launch the iPhone 15 series this year with upgraded features like a periscopic lens and improved cameras. The company is rumoured to change its pricing strategy by decreasing the costs of non-Pro models and increasing the prices of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
These details should be taken with a grain of salt until there is official information from Apple. We’ll update you as more information becomes available, so stay tuned!
