Fast charging technology has been a hot topic in the smartphone industry. Xiaomi has just raised the bar with its latest 300W charging tech.
The company recently demonstrated this charging technology in a video showcasing a modified Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition with a smaller 4,100mAh battery, a Double GaN charger with over 50 safety protection items, and 15C cells made of carbon materials for faster charging/discharging and lower heat production.
In the video, the phone charged 50% in just 2 minutes and was fully charged in under 5 minutes, achieving a new benchmark in fast charging. Although it’s important to note that the peak power used to achieve this benchmark was 290W, not the total 300W.
Realme’s 240W fast charging tech, which can fully charge a phone in around 9 minutes, was previously the benchmark for fast charging speed. Xiaomi’s 300W tech is a significant leap forward and could change the game for smartphone charging. However, whether this technology will be implemented in mass-produced phones needs to be clarified, and if so, which ones and when.
Despite the uncertainty, Xiaomi’s 300W charging technology is a significant step towards faster charging times and could revolutionize the smartphone industry. We will keep you updated on any further developments, so stay tuned. Let us know your thoughts on this new milestone in the comments below!
