Soon after Instagram introduced five fresh filters in December, it now brings two new editing tools namely Color and Fade. Both these options are now available for Android (version 6.19.0) and expected to arrive on iOS in a few days.
The new Color tool will allow users to tint the highlights or shadows in a particular picture. Options available vary from yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, cyan and green. The Fade tool will allow users to fade shadows and highlights in the image to give it an ‘old film’ look.
Instagram also posted a few images on its blog, giving an example on how a user can enhance a sunset photo by adding a bit of tint to the sky using the Color tool. The other image exhibits the new Fade tool, displaying a lighter and softer effect. Even though the app has a similar option, this tool will allow a user to fine-tune it further.
Along with the new creative tools, Instagram has also added a new feature called ‘Post Notifications’ that allows users to receive push notifications when their favorite accounts upload a new image/video. This is a great feature for those who wish to get alerts about a few accounts they follow vigorously. This feature is now available on both iOS and Android.
