iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13: The iPhone 14 answers the issue Apple has been trying to figure out for years: how can you differentiate between the regular and Pro iPhones enough to get someone to pay more?
The last response was a little more specific, concentrating on aspects like camera quality and multitasking performance while maintaining certain fundamental specifications.
This time, Apple’s decision appears to be a little more malicious because it prevents the iPhone 14 from making any major advancements, increasing the gap between it and the iPhone 14 Pro. This is not to imply that it’s a poor smartphone, but there are a few things to consider before using the iPhone 13.

The iPhone 14 will begin delivering initially on September 16 while the iPhone 14 Plus won’t be available in India until October 7.
iPHONE 14 VS. iPHONE 13: DESIGN
The regular 14 offers much of the same while the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max benefit from minor cosmetic changes. As a result, the display notch will be identical to those of earlier generations, relatively comparable in size, and have the same diagonal camera array architecture as the bump.
Of course, the bigger iPhone 14 Plus model, which replaces the iPhone mini and offers a large screen mid-range option to the Pro Max, is one significant difference (literally).
In terms of the design of the iPhone 14, it is a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t repair it,” but after two generations of the same appearance, we had hoped for at least some tweaks — like the “pill-and-hole” design of the Pro to liven things up a bit.
The iPhone 14’s dimensions are largely the same as the iPhone 13’s (6.10 ounces), measuring 5.78 x 2.82 x 0.31 inches and weighing 6.07 ounces respectively. As a result, it should fit inside your existing case.
The Max measures 6.33 x 3.07 x 0.31 inches bigger and weighs 7.16 ounces more than the Mini.
iPHONE 14 VS. iPHONE 13: DISPLAY
Apple is maintaining the same 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display you saw in the iPhone 13 with 1,200-nit peak brightness, HDR, a broad color gamut, Haptic Touch, and the same 60Hz refresh rate, remaining steadfast in its beliefs.
Although I understand that the iOS graphical user interface and touch sample rate make this the smoothest-feeling 60Hz phone available, this is becoming increasingly inexcusable given that the industry is now seeing 120Hz in phones that cost far less than this.
The new thing is the iPhone 14 Plus, which has the same 6.7-inch display as the Pro Max iPhone but a slower refresh rate.
iPHONE 14 VS. iPHONE 13: PROCESSOR
Since there were reports that Apple might stick with its current A15 Bionic processor while the Pro benefited from the cutting-edge A16 Bionic, the chipset has been a contentious topic of discussion for some time.
The reports turned out to be mostly accurate, making this the first year that new iPhone models would have unique internals. If I’m being completely honest, I feel conflicted about this.
The A15 Bionic is a monster of a smartphone chip, carrying amazing power, graphics capabilities, and good power management, as you’ve seen over the last year in devices like our iPhone 13.
Additionally, since this is the same technology that powers the iPhone 13 Pro, you get an extra GPU core and up to 25% greater graphics performance.
However, especially with phones at this price, you can’t help but feel a bit let down that you aren’t receiving the anticipated upgrade.
iPHONE 14 VS. iPHONE 13: CAMERAS
The dual 12MP sensors, wide-angle and ultra-wide lenses, and other camera components are substantially the same in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 models. To achieve great, sharp pictures, use the same 100% focus pixels and sensor-shift technology as the primary camera.
However, there are a few significant variations that result from minor hardware adjustments and better software photography. First, just like the iPhone 13 Pro, the primary camera sensor has smaller 1.9-micron pixels and an f/1.5 aperture. Better performance in low light and more detail.
Second, the f/1.9 aperture on the upgraded 12MP selfie camera (also found on the iPhone 13 Pro) enables superior low-light photography.
Thirdly, Apple is bringing over the Photonic engine technology you may have seen in the iPhone 14 Pro. This technology moves the Deep Fusion process earlier in the software’s workflow while shooting a photo for up to 2.5x better low light performance.
I would have preferred to see some advancement in this area, such as the 14 Pro’s increased megapixel count. However, as I mentioned earlier, Apple is eager to take advantage of your tepid response to upgrade you to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
However, as is evident from our assessments, Apple’s camera system is excellent and, when combined with some outstanding software photography, produces fantastic images in the majority of situations.
iPHONE 14 VS. iPHONE 13: BATTERY LIFE
Apple has not publicly verified anything and will never publicly disclose anything about the battery capacity. However, the longer usage times claimed at the event are consistent with a slight but welcome boost in battery capacity, from 3,240mAh to 3,279mAh.
Naturally, the bigger 14 Plus has a far larger battery than that, which may last up to 25% longer than the iPhone 13.
To find out if it’s a massive battery or if another outstanding example of software optimization is optimizing every last bit of battery life, we’ll have to wait for breakdown footage.
Point of View
When you compare the features, the newest iPhone is more difficult to sell this year than any before. Because even if there are some minor iterative improvements, the list of similarities has risen significantly as a result of the inclusion of a comparable CPU.
When you inquire as to why this is the case, the word “inflation” comes to mind, but you can’t help but feel uneasy about what is effectively an iPhone 13 with a new skin.
Yes, for the majority of people, this will still be the iPhone to purchase, but without any effort to match some features that Android users have long benefited from in less expensive phones (a 120Hz refresh rate, for instance), this one could sting.
