Apple CEO Tim Cook made a public announcement yesterday about his being gay. Cook who said he is “proud to be gay” joins the really small list of chief executives that openly came out. Coming from the CEO of a leading technology company, the revelation gives hope to a lot to the LGBT community who face discrimination for their sexual orientations. Meanwhile, here’s a list of top executives and entrepreneurs from the tech world who are also happy and gay.

Peter Thiel, prominent angel  investor in tech companies

Peter Thiel is the co-founder and ex-CEO of Paypal. He played a major role in building the company along with Elon Musk and Max Levchin. He is also known to be an investor in Facebook and has co-founded the data analysis company Palantir. He has also invested in several other companies.

Sandy Gould, Head of recruiting, Talent Acquisition VP at Yahoo

Yahoo had hired recruitment veteran Sandy Gould from Disney/ABC Television Group as senior vice president of global talent acquisition and development. He comes with over 20 years of experience in leading global recruitment and talent for popular brand across technology, media, and financial services.

Marianne Roling, Microsoft, General manager, small & medium market solutions and partners business, central and eastern Europe

In 2013, the UK-based executive-level networking group OUTstanding had listed Marianne Roling among the world’s Top 100 LGBT business leaders.She joined Microsoft in 2005 and led the EMEA business for the Mobile Communications Business, where she managed the growth of Windows Mobile. Roling has now become EMEA Managing Director for the Communication Sector and overlooks sales for Microsoft’s PC, Phone, and TV platforms and services.

Steven Cox, Fujitsu, Executive director, public sector

Earlier this year, Fujitsu appointed Steven Cox as Executive Director for the Public Sector. He has been looking after Fujitsu’s largest customer accounts like HMRC. With this new move, Fujitsu has been hoping to re-strategise the company’s substantial Public Sector business.
