In a bid to cash in on the growing mobile traffic, LinkedIn has launched its first standalone mobile app called LinkedIn Job Search. The app can be downloaded for free from the iTunes store. It is now live in the US and expected to reach other regions soon, reports TechCrunch.  In April, LinkedIn had revealed that it is witnessing tremendous growth in mobile traffic and expects more than 50 percent of its traffic to come via mobile later this year.

The app lets users search and apply for jobs on LinkedIn. The company also ensures that your job search app is private. In its official blog, LinkedIn writes, “Our goal is to help make this process easier for you and to help you be discreet. Everything you do within the app will be completely private and not shared with your network.”

Just like LinekdIn for web, the app offers streamlined end-to-end experience while on the go. It offers customized search options with a more tailored approach. One can also use Advanced Search to filter jobs by fields such as title, location, company, industry, or seniority level. The app will also recommend job options depending upon your saved searches, jobs you’ve viewed, and your LinkedIn profile.

In October last year, the company had revealed that 38 percent of LinkedIn unique visits now come from mobile devices. Last year, the company spent a good deal revamping its mobile and web apps, and added some nifty features too. The company had announced the LinkedIn app for Nokia Asha budget devices in India. Afterall, a gradual shift to mobile platform is a global phenomenon and obviously LinkedIn too wants to capitalise on mobile traffic.
