It is now Microsoft’s turn to make your searches on Bing more contextual and instant. After Google brought the Google Now app to desktops last month, Microsoft has added a similar feature to the Bing search homepage. This feature is called personalised cards. Thankfully Microsoft isn’t calling it Bing Now. Unfortunately, Bing personalised cards are US-only for the moment.
A post on company’s blog says, ”Starting today, we are unveiling a set of personalized cards on the Bing homepage that will help you keep track of things that matter to you.” It also explains how Bing is the driving force behind Cortana, the voice assistant launched by Microsoft just recently.
To start using the personalised cards simply log in to your Microsoft account when using Bing. After logging in you can let Bing know what it should track for you. This can be achieved by setting up your interests, just like on Cortana. After setting up your interests come back to Bing homepage and do a search. You can then click on the star beneath the search result and Bing will give you all the updates on that starred topic.
One of the benefits of this new feature form Microsoft is that the user will get status updates across all the services that are powered by Bing, including Cortana. The company also states, “As long as you’re signed in, Bing will remember your interests and notify you, as appropriate, across a range of Bing-powered Microsoft services, such as Cortana and the Bing Sports app, for example.”
