Kind financial has announced a tie up with Microsoft to provide cannabis tracking and tracing solutions to states, counties and cities in the United States. Kind financial is a company that provides technologies to ensure the legal cannabis industry stays compliant with US governmental norms. These tools will be plugged into Microsoft Azure Government, a cloud platform specifically built to handle needs of the US government. The entire setup ensures that cannabis transactions are compliant, safe and secure.
Microsoft’s Executive Director for State and Local Government Solutions said, Kimberly Nelson, said “KIND’s strategic industry positioning, experienced team and top-notch-technology running in the Microsoft Azure Government cloud, made for an easy decision to align efforts. KIND agreed that Azure Government is the only cloud platform designed to meet government standards for the closely regulated cannabis compliance programs and we look forward to working together to help our government customers launch successful regulatory programs.
The New York Times notes that this is one of the first technology giants to enter the legal cannabis industry in the United States. Another company working with compliance solutions is Oracle, in the New York State. The “bold” step from Microsoft will help Microsoft establish revenue streams not dependent on software for desktop computers.
