OxygenOS 13 is released by OnePlus ahead of the rumoured Unified OS launch.
OnePlus revealed last year that its flagship devices for 2022 will run the much-anticipated Unified OS, which will be a merging of OxygenOS and ColorOS. The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the other hand, runs OxygenOS 12 in China, and the global version is expected to receive OxygenOS 12 instead of the possibly delayed Unified OS. In the midst of all of this, OnePlus has unsurprisingly revealed Oxygen OS 13, its next-generation operating system, after the recent release of the first developer beta of Android 13.
OxygenOS 13 Has Been Announced
OnePlus just announced this year’s Open Ears Forum (OEF), which will feature the introduction of the Android 13-based OxygenOS 13 via a community forum post on February 28. An online discussion will be held with OnePlus users and officials to discuss the company’s future OxygenOS 13 platform.
However, the launch of OxygenOS 13 raises some questions regarding OnePlus’ OS aspirations. Previous rumours stated that the Unified OS, developed jointly by OnePlus and Oppo, will be unveiled in the second half of 2022. However, if OnePlus intends to release Oxygen OS 13, it would likely coincide with the introduction of the Unified OS platform.
There are several options to consider. For starters, one could wonder if OnePlus and Oppo want to postpone the Unified OS indefinitely.
OnePlus may keep the OxygenOS trademark despite combining the OxygenOS and ColorOS codes. For those who are unaware, it was previously anticipated that it will alter the name of its Unified OS. There is currently nothing tangible available, and OnePlus must solve a lot of these concerns.
Nonetheless, we anticipate learning more about OnePlus’ ambitions and OxygenOS 13 on February 28 at 7:30 p.m. local time (5:00 PM IST). OnePlus is asking 15 people to participate in this discussion. If you are interested, please submit your applications via this page. However, it is worth noting that space in the OEF is limited, and registration is only accessible until February 18. So, get moving!
