OxygenOS 12: Over the past few years, OnePlus has held its Open Ears Forum (OEF), with 2020 becoming the first virtual gathering.
With its next Android-based operating system, OxygenOS 12, OnePlus has announced the launch of a new Theme Store. A OnePlus team member has shared on the community forum that the next big OS update will bring a Theme Store, and the company needs input on it. The company has announced its Open Ears Forum (OEF) for May 2021. At this year’s OEF, which will be held on May 18, the store will be discussed. Like last year, it will be a virtual event.
OnePlus hosts its OEF events to engage with fans and gather suggestions about how they can develop their hardware and applications. In January of last year, it hosted its OEF, in which it asked fans what they wished to see in terms of tech and hardware updates in 2020. This year’s OEF will be held on May 18th, and the subject will be a Theme Store. According to the forum thread, OxygenOS will get a Theme Store with the next big OS update, which is a much-requested feature.
OnePlus’ new operating system, OxygenOS 12, will most likely be based on Android 12, similar to OxygenOS 11, which was based on Android 11. Before launching the latest Theme Store in OxygenOS 12, OnePlus needs to have a conversation with some users. “If you’re involved in themes and wallpaper customisations, join us, and let’s co-create a great Theme Store for OnePlus,” the company added, without including much information about the upcoming Theme Store.
On May 18, 15 global consumers and four team members will participate in the OEF. Users who are interested in applying will do so until May 12th. Selected customers can get a Hasselblad postcard, an OEF pin, and a T-shirt as part of the company’s goodie pack.
Android 12 is currently being reviewed, although no release date has been set. As Google launched Android 11 for Pixel phones in September 2020, OnePlus was one of the first few mobile manufacturers to update OxygenOS 11, which is based on Android 11. It’s not out of the question that OnePlus will be among the first to adopt Android 12.
