Samsung has edged out Sony and Tata to become India’s most trusted brand, according to a survey from Brand Trust Report 2014. This study is conducted by the Trust Research Advisory, and is in its fifth year. Samsung was the second most trusted brand last year, with Nokia emerging as the winner. The Finnish organization was in fact the most trusted brand in India for three years in a row, and this is the first time it was edged out by Samsung. The study last year was conducted across 2505 influences from 16 different cities.
Samsung’s rise to the summit should come as no surprise, considering the year it has had. Last
year, the South Korean giant overtook Nokia as the most profitable handset vendor, and also became the largest handset manufacturer in the world. In a study conducted earlier this month, it was found that Samsung sold over 322 million handsets in 2013, which is almost a third of the 1 billion handsets that were sold globally over the course of the year. With devices like the Galaxy S5 set to make their debut later this year, it is feasible that Samsung will hold onto its crown next year.
Other consumer electronics manufacturers, like Sony and LG have also seen a rise in the rankings from last year.
