Samsung might not be too keen on smartwatches running Google’s Android Wear platform, but that doesn’t mean its first Android Wear smartwatch, the Gear Live, isn’t going to be available for sale worldwide. Today, the Gear Live’s availability has expanded to three new regions, namely Australia, Japan, and South Korea, where the watch is up for pre-order from Google Play. That brings availability of the smartwatch to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Keep in mind that the Gear Live will be coming to Samsung and other retail stores in many countries later in July, but for now it remains exclusive to Google Play, from where it will start shipping to consumers on July 11th. The watch is priced at $199, and offers all the features of Android Wear, including Google Now information and voice control, notifications, controlling music on a connected smartphone, measuring heart rate and other fitness parameters, and more. It also features a heart rate scanner, and is IP67 for water and dust resistance.
