Sharp Unveils Aquos Pad, Aquos Phone Series Mini for KDDI

KDDI will soon carry two new Android devices from Sharp, including a new tablet and a new smartphone that offer some relatively high-end specs. They probably won’t ever end up in the United States, since Sharp doesn’t typically sell its smartphones here, but we’re definitely digging what we see nonetheless.
First up is the Aquos Phone Series Mini (quite a long name if you ask us). According to Android Central, it offers a 4.5 inch display with a 1080p resolution, which should offer a really sharp image with all of those pixels, a Snapdragon 800 processor, a 13.1-megapixel camera and 2GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, which is a bit of a ding against it. As one picture reveals, the device should also launch in pink, blue, green and gray, and we’re definitely digging the color options.

Next up is the new tablet, called the Aquos Pad. It looks like your typical 7-inch Android slate and includes Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and a 1920 x 1200-pixel display. Unlike most tablets that offer relatively basic cameras, this one has a 13-megapixel cam on the back. We’re not sure why that’s needed, but if your smartphone camera isn’t up to snuff than you can fallback on your tablet.
Both devices should be available on KDDI soon, though we don’t have any information on pricing just yet.
