With a backwards-bending display
At CES 2014, Sony had expanded its VAIO lineup with the new Flip series of hybrids. The company has now launched the VAIO Flip F13N, F14N, F15N in the Indian market. The 13-inch Vaio Flip F13N comes at a zinger of a starting price of Rs 99,990, the 14-inch Flip F14N continues the tradition and starts at Rs 94,990, and finally the Flip F15N tops out the range at Rs 1, 04,990. Sony’s Flip series is all set to compete with the likes of Dell and Asus who have been churning out similar touch-enabled hybrid devices.
All three Flip models – F13N, F14N and F15N – run on fourth generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and the Flip 15 gets a dedicated Nvidia graphics processor. The 13-inch model features solid-state drives (SSDs) while the other two feature a hybrid drive design for both speed and storage capacity. They come equipped with full HD screens and Sony’s Triluminous Display technology for image enhancement. For those on the lookout for the pretty in this latest range of hardware the Flip models are available in silver, while the F13 is also available in black.
Sony has included proprietary techniques which they claim will enhance sound quality and the devices. From the specifications available we can say that the devices come with high-quality cameras. All three models come with backlit keyboards, which are useful for those who love working through the night.
Now to the what makes these devices a hybrid; the Flip series comes fitted with a hinge that allows users to transform the device from a clamshell mobile PC to a tablet. Sony’s hinge design makes it possible for the screen to be flipped over backwards and then folded back down over the keyboard. So, the device can be used in a variety of new way, claims the company. According to Sony, users can work on any productivity task in laptop mode and also create a quick presentation in viewer mode. By flipping the keyboard backwards and using it as a lid, one can use it to watch a movie or browse the Web using the touchscreen.
All VAIO Flip models are backed by a one-year accidental damage protection warranty, users can extend it further by two more years but have to pay an additional Rs. 999 for that. As a introductory offer for a limited period, Sony is giving away a pair of MDR-XB910A headphones with every Vaio Flip device, along with three months of free music downloads from Sony Music.
