Apple’s next-gen iPhone is all about big changes to the device everyone has come to know and love. And we mean that literally. Much of the focus will be on the bigger body and the larger display and how Apple manages to bring its trademark styling to such a device.

Naturally, it’s got a lot of people stoked and analysts are expecting huge windfall for Apple, which has shied away from large-screen smartphones ever since the first iPhone set off the smartphone race. Its biggest rival Samsung is also planning changes in response.

Reports emerging from Korea say Samsung may finally be ready to unveil its much-rumoured metal-bodied flagship. The Galaxy Alpha, as it has been called now (in the past we’ve heard Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy F as rumoured names), will bring a supposedly premium metal body to a device that will likely share some specs with the Galaxy S5.

Korean publication ETNews reported that Samsung will release Galaxy Alpha in August, ahead of the rumoured iPhone 6 September launch. Samsung clearly wants to beat its biggest rival to the gate with this effort.

Obviously, the final specs of smartphone are yet to be confirmed, but we have heard several reports in the past about the Alpha’s display. It will reportedly have a LG G3-like 2K or QHD display. It has been spotted at the FCC in the past, so we know that it may be ready for a final reveal, and could feature a 16-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and octa-core Exynos CPU.

We have also seen leaked images from Evleaks of the alleged device and those pointed to a September launch, but looks like Samsung is gearing up for an early release to beat the iPhone 6.
