With each new feature, WhatsApp expands its capabilities as a messaging platform. Similarly, the Meta-owned messaging app tests the ability to pin individual messages before they become official. Here’s what you need to know.
Pinning Messages on WhatsApp is being Tested
WABetaInfo Reports: In a new Android beta update, version 2.23.3.17, WhatsApp users can pin individual or group messages. WhatsApp will be handy for keeping track of important messages (especially in group chats), which can often get lost when new ones arrive.
Aside from this, people can pinning important chats to the app’s top, so they remain visible. This feature allows them to keep the most frequently used chats at the top. According to a screenshot in the report, if a message is pinned in a chat, but the recipient uses an old WhatsApp version, a notification will appear telling them to update to see the pinned message.
If you are unfamiliar with WhatsApp, it already allows people to start important messages, but this requires additional steps. Pinning messages puts the most important ones at the top without having to open additional settings.
Additionally, WhatsApp is testing shortcuts for calling people on the app and in-app banners to inform users that they can share files up to 2GB in size. Also found was the ability to share photos in their original quality, which is extremely useful.
There’s no word on when these features will be available to everyone. We’ll keep you posted whenever it happens. Meanwhile, please share your thoughts on them in the comments.
