Xiaomi has recently launched the highly anticipated Mi Band 8 in China. Smartwatches have largely taken over the fitness band market, but Xiaomi keeps up with its pill-shaped design while adding new ways to wear the wearable.
Xiaomi Mi Band 8: Price and Details
The standard variant of the Mi Band 8 is priced at 249 Yuan (â‚ą2,975), while the NFC variant is priced at 299 Yuan (â‚ą3,575) in China.
However, early bird sales offer a discount of 10 Yuan and 20 Yuan, respectively.
One of the notable improvements in the Mi Band 8 is its quick-release mechanism for the watch strap, making it easier to switch bands. The pill comes in black (with a black silicon strap) and gold (with an ivory silicon strap) with a metallic texture, highlighting its fashion-forward design.
Users can even wear it as a pendant or attach it to their shoe laces.
The Mi Band 8 boasts a 1.62-inch AMOLED touchscreen, similar to the Mi Band 7, with up to 200 watch faces that can be changed via the Xiaomi Health app. The band also includes special watch faces that allow users to play games, such as 2048, ping-pong shooter, and trivia.
The wearable supports over 150 sports modes, including walking, running, cycling, weightlifting, swimming, and more. It also includes a bean-shaped walking/running tracker that offers a range of new functionalities, including tracking professional data such as stride frequency, stride length, ground contact vacancy ratio, and ground impact force. The device also supports continuous heart rate and sleep tracking, blood oxygen monitoring, and menstrual tracking for females.
Xiaomi claims that the Mi Band 8 offers improved battery life, lasting up to 16 days on a single charge with the always-on display disabled. The battery life goes down to approximately six days on a single charge if AOD is enabled. The device also supports fast charging, allowing users to charge the 190mAh battery in just one hour fully.
Although the Mi Band 8 Pro was rumored to be released, it was not mentioned during the launch. There is no news on whether the Mi Band 8 will release globally or in India, but Xiaomi fans must stay tuned for further updates.
