Apple has launched its latest premium phones, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, at the “Awe Dropping” event on September 9. CEO Tim Cook announced during a streamed keynote. In the United States, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099 for the 256GB version. The iPhone 17 Pro Max begins at $1,199 with the same storage. In India, the prices are set at ₹1,34,900 and ₹1,49,900. Color options include Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, and Silver. Pre-orders start on September 12, with sales beginning worldwide on September 19.
iPhone 17 Pro & iPhone 17 Pro Max: Design and Build
Apple has brought back aluminum construction for the Pro series, moving away from titanium used in the 15 Pro and 16 Pro. The surprise is that the new iPhone 17 Air now uses titanium instead. The Pro models feature a unibody structure with a striking full-width rear camera design. For the first time, Apple has added a vapor chamber cooling system, built to keep the phones stable during gaming and heavy tasks.
Display and Durability

The new telephoto is 56% larger, offering up to 8x optical zoom and 40x digital zoom. The front camera is 18MP and supports Centre Stage, which adjusts the frame during video calls.
Software and AI Features
Running on iOS 26, the phones introduce a Liquid Glass interface with smoother animations. Apple Intelligence brings new AI tools like live translations in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone, better visual recognition for objects on screen, and improved spam filtering for calls and texts.
Battery and Charging
Thanks to the unibody build, the phones fit larger batteries. Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro Max has the longest battery life ever in an iPhone. Both models support fast USB-C charging, reaching 50% in just 20 minutes.
